About Me

I came to Travel-pa in 2012, after 5 years in the reservations department of Virgin Holidays. As a ‘senior travel consultant’ I was relied upon to handle all holiday enquiries, regardless of destination. Therefore, I have considerable experience in holidays to Florida, Caribbean, North America, the Far East, South Africa and Australia, as well. Before this I worked for the reservations department with Thomas Cook which involved booking all of their product, including holidays in Europe and Central and South America.

I’m originally from Canada but moved to Brighton after meeting my wife (she’s from Leeds) on a lovely little beach in Southern Mexico where I had lived for some time. I had spent about 8 years travelling around North America by ‘planes, trains, and automobiles’ (along with a few cars, buses, camper vans and motorhomes) and covered a total of about 125,000 miles. In these travels I visited most Canadian provinces, US states, a good portion of coastal Mexico (including Baja California) and most of Central America.

My Travel Experience

I have travelled all over the US and Canada including the following major centres: Los Angeles. San Diego, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Denver, Toronto, Niagara, Montreal, New York, Pittsburgh, Savannah, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, San Antonio, Grand Canyon.

In addition, I’ve been to bike rallies in Sturgis and Daytona, seen Mount Rushmore and Carlsbad caverns, drove my car through a giant redwood in California, camped with hippies in Idaho and Ocala National forest, and survived a hurricane in Baja California. On this side of the Atlantic, I’ve recently travelled to South Africa, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Marrakech, Essaouira, Casablanca, Prague, Faro, Malaga, La Manga, Berlin, Prague and enjoyed a lovely birthday in Amsterdam.

Delights in Dubai

I think Dubai is brilliant; Glitz, decadence, extreme, gaudy and tacky all at the same time. The same, of course, can be said of Vegas, but Dubai does it in a different way. A lot of travelers are put off by these exact points, but an equal number love it for just those read more »
