About Me

I came to Travel-pa in 2012, after 5 years in the reservations department of Virgin Holidays. As a ‘senior travel consultant’ I was relied upon to handle all holiday enquiries, regardless of destination. Therefore, I have considerable experience in holidays to Florida, Caribbean, North America, the Far East, South Africa and Australia, as well. Before this I worked for the reservations department with Thomas Cook which involved booking all of their product, including holidays in Europe and Central and South America.

I’m originally from Canada but moved to Brighton after meeting my wife (she’s from Leeds) on a lovely little beach in Southern Mexico where I had lived for some time. I had spent about 8 years travelling around North America by ‘planes, trains, and automobiles’ (along with a few cars, buses, camper vans and motorhomes) and covered a total of about 125,000 miles. In these travels I visited most Canadian provinces, US states, a good portion of coastal Mexico (including Baja California) and most of Central America.

My Travel Experience

I have travelled all over the US and Canada including the following major centres: Los Angeles. San Diego, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Denver, Toronto, Niagara, Montreal, New York, Pittsburgh, Savannah, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Galveston, San Antonio, Grand Canyon.

In addition, I’ve been to bike rallies in Sturgis and Daytona, seen Mount Rushmore and Carlsbad caverns, drove my car through a giant redwood in California, camped with hippies in Idaho and Ocala National forest, and survived a hurricane in Baja California. On this side of the Atlantic, I’ve recently travelled to South Africa, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Marrakech, Essaouira, Casablanca, Prague, Faro, Malaga, La Manga, Berlin, Prague and enjoyed a lovely birthday in Amsterdam.

Intercontinental Mauritius

I have some great offers to the Intercontinental Mauritius holidays. I am going to give some information here.  However, instead of me writing it, I thought I’d get the hotel’s sales manager to put a few words together. This is from Shane Jameson: Intercontinental read more »

A weekend in Berlin

Berlin is a very interesting city but you need to arrive in the right mindset.  The starkness of the city itself and, of course, its history make for a bleak background. The good part is that once you get past Berlin’s grey past there is a plethora of things to do 24 read more »

New York City

New York City has so much to offer and is an amazing place to visit. A very good friend of mine lives in Williamsburg, just across the bridge from Manhattan, and loves it. There is just so much to do and see that even a week is not enough time to get totally stuck in but, I read more »

Discover Morocco

I found Morocco to be fascinating and wish we would have been able to see more. Fes, Agadir and the Atlas mountains were, unfortunately, missed, but our two weeks was well spent in other locations. I don’t like just to pass through a place without getting the local feel read more »

Discover Italy

Fresh pasta, pizzas and good wine are the first things that come to mind when someone says Italy but, then again, I’m partial to really nice food. To others, Italy will be about heritage, culture and customs that date back to before the Romans…I think neither is read more »

San Diego, California

San Diego is one of my favourite places and has a fantastic year round climate.  Winters in Southern California are cool at the worst which makes it a go-anytime destination.  Those in search of some winter sun might well consider this destination although the flight is read more »
