China

For many, travel to China is the fulfillment of a dream. To explore the Forbidden City, home to Chinese emperors over the centuries, to gaze in awe at an entire army of Terracotta Warriors and to walk proudly on a Great Wall that stretches for over 4,000 miles. And yet these famous sights are only the first steps in discovering this fascinating land. A land of beauty with its poetic landscapes around Guilin, dramatic gorges along the Yangtze and striking mountain scenery in Nine Villages Valley.

For the more adventurous, there is the opportunity to travel along the ancient Silk Road or venture overland into mystical Tibet. Not forgetting everyone’s favourite, of course, the Panda’s!! Yet beyond these great wonders, the most enduring memory is often the charm of the Chinese themselves.

The Mighty Yangtze River and The Best of China

The world’s longest river within a single country, the Yangtze has played an essential and inspirational role in Chinese life since the dawn of that glorious civilisation. It unites regions diverse in landscape, language and culture, links cities ancient and modern – thus presenting an engaging timeline of Chinese history – and offers the most scenic means of traversing this vast country.

This superlative tour of China’s myriad highlights reveals the imperial treasures of Beijing and Xi’an along with the vibrancy of Shanghai, and includes a 6-night Yangtze river cruise aboard the state-of-the-art Victoria Sophia, taking in the awe-inspiring Three Gorges en route.

China Holidays

China is currently the rave for the massive economic strides it has made in the recent past. This despite of, or due to, the fact that it has the highest population in the whole world. Apart from this, China is known for its rich history that tells of great dynasties and civilizations. The dynasties especially left a lot of structural heritage that leaves the rest of the world in awe. Consider China holidays for unforgettable time of life.

It is hard to describe how the Chinese of yore managed to come up with such intricate, sturdy designs. Neither can today’s engineers comprehend the methodology used to build the structural artefacts. Anyone curious about this rich architectural heritage and in some spell binding views should plan for a holiday in China.

China Holidays – Sightseeing and activities

China Holidays - Great Wall of china

The Chinese people are a great people that seem to be always happy to see foreigners in their country. A smile will frequently accompany their mouthing of accurate instructions to a stranded tourist.

This leads to making tourists feel very appreciated and much at home. With this relaxed aura, one can set off to explore the vast country.

If one does not know where to begin, then it’s advisable to start with the most famous attraction, The Great China wall. The wall was built to discourage the northern warring communities from invading China. It is hard to swallow the fact that the hand of man was responsible for building this amazing structure that snakes over many miles of mountain land.

Another testimony of the turbulent times in China’s past is the Museum of the Terra Cotta Warriors and their horses. At the front of the tomb of the first emperor of the unified China Qin Shi Huang Di, a massive excavation revealed hundreds of sculptured soldiers and horses all seemingly alert and guarding the tomb. The large scale of art in this burial spot is astounding.

China Holidays - China Terracotta pmorgan

The former rulers of China were not very social with the common man as is testified by the Forbidden City. Found in Beijing, this is a collection of numerous structures that housed emperors and their families.

The housing was so immaculate that the emperors did not want to share the magnificence with the commoners. Within the city, was the Emperors Palace, today this is the Palace Museum and visitors can venture in to view the many treasures.

A building that works to embarrass accomplished architects today is the Temple of Heaven in China. Some may be tempted to explain that the mystery is revealed in the name and that the temple is really from heaven.

The temple’s design is from out of this world and the symmetry does not seem to have been accomplished by the hand of man, yet the building stands. Today this is one of the most photographed buildings in the world.

China Holidays - China Shanghai Yuyan

Another evidence of how much ancient China appreciated beauty and went to all lengths to achieve it is evident in the Yu Yuan gardens. The gardens that date back to the Ming dynasty are a perfect blend of man’s building ability and natures perfect beauty; the flowers and trees beautify the ponds and pavilions that once comforted the troubled emperors.

A point that every visitor to China should take in and appreciate is the fact that, the sites that even foreigners are able to enjoy today were once royalty and the common people who lived then were not allowed to access them.

There are many, many attractions in China not mentioned here. This is but a sneak preview to the boundless wonders of this country. After reading it, one should make it a priority to schedule a holiday to China and see the rest.

Our China Holidays will definitely etch themselves on your memory.

I thought we'd just let you know what a wonderful time we all had aboard the Adventure of the Seas, and thank you for your part in the arrangements, we enjoyed every minute, no doubt probably our best cruise to date. Also I would say that disparaging remarks or criticism were totally unfounded, we gave all the staff, food, cabins, entertainment, weather and the ports of call, 10 out of 10, its a great ship, managed by a fine Master and very dedicated crew. We may have to give next year a miss to build up the bank balance, but we will come back to you for your expertise, as our Cruise Connoisseur.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for organising our trip to Verona last weekend. This was a very emotive trip for my wife & I, as it was our first trip to Italy since my wife's cancer diagnosis 2 years ago. Italy is without a doubt our favourite place on the planet and we were not sure if she would see it again. Thanks to you, she has regained, what I call her Italian smile, it came across her face the minute we touched down. Money cannot pay for that smile! The hotel at Gatwick was literally a 2 minute bus ride from the airport, front row seats on the flight over and chauffeur driven limo to meet us at the airport was an amazing start to the weekend. When you said we were staying in a 3 star hotel, I was, if I'm honest, a little nervous, generally speaking, 3 star hotels in Italy means you are sleeping in a cow shed. Not at the Hotel Milano, what an amazing hotel, slap bang in the centre of Verona, with views of the arena, excellent breakfast, towels changed twice daily, good size bedrooms and very comfortable beds! The air con worked superbly, which was just as well with temperatures in the 30's every day. Thank you for making this trip memorable for both of us.

Not only were your clients located in in three corners of the UK, but you had to deal with very late booking alterations, various medical requirements, special dietary requirements and not to mention 6 very experienced cruisers. All arrangements were completed by you with professional calm and flourish and, due to your personal intervention and attention to detail, everything was perfect from beginning to end. It is a great location, very comfortable & very attentive staff. Venice was a trifle hot but lovely all the same and now competing for our favourite Italian city. All went well with the ship, again thank you for picking it for us; a perfect choice. Staff were great, cabin very comfortable and what was so nice is that there was no forced seating. We could eat in a choice of restaurants and there was always a table for two if we wanted it. The food choices were outstanding. The itinerary was very interesting particularly Kotor in Montenegro. Not long back from our 3rd holiday of the year all booked by Jackie, Jackie is excellent at finding great hotels at fantastic prices. firstly we booked a holiday in Mexico at the Occidental Grand Excaret on the Riviera Maya. For the May bank holiday weekend we asked Jackie if she could find us something in the UK with a hot tub for a relaxing break, Jackie quickly replied with a few options and we ended up booking Conifer Lodges at Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway. The price through Jackie was cheaper than what we could of booked it ourselves. Lastly we have not been long back from Kardemeana in Kos, this one proved a bit more difficult to find as we'd been spoilt in Mexico, Jackie spent a lot of time finding us exactly what we asked for and yet again managed to find us a fantastic hotel at a brilliant price.
