Muscat
Holidays in Muscat
This is Oman’s capital and has been in existence since the 1st century. Throughout the ages the city has managed to remain relevant and today boasts modern buildings and infrastructure that rivals that of other leading cities. Located as it is on the edge of the Arabian Sea and having deep waters close to its coast, it has a pretty natural harbour. Its coastline is home to a rich variety of reef colonies and plenty of marine life but it also has marvellous beaches for tourists to lounge on.
There are areas that are mountainous, making for a well rounded experience of nature for those on holiday to Muscat. This city is also known for having a number of beautifully designed mosques. Shoppers will be delighted to note that there are an increasing number of shopping malls and history buffs will be happy to tour the many museums in Muscat.
Sightseeing and activities
Muscat is truly an amazing city and visitors are astounded by the wealth of attractions in this Middle Eastern gem. The natural beauty here manifests itself in the form of jaw-dropping wadis and the one that stands out the most is the Wadi Shab with its steep sides, caves and tranquil green pools.
There are also some majestic mountains in this land and at the foot of the Hajar Mountains you will find the incredible Nakhal Fort. Besides its beautiful, grand structure there are many palm trees planted around it that give it a luxurious air.
Speaking of grand structures, you need to take time to go see the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace. This elegant structure is where the Sultan, the country’s leader works from and unlike the White House, you will not be allowed to take a tour inside. But no one will stop you from taking pictures of the building’s magnificent exterior. The Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts were formerly prisons used by the Portuguese when they occupied the place in the 16th century.
Their shape and design is something special, sitting as they do in the rocky facade of mountains. Unfortunately you will not be allowed in there as well, viewing is limited to the exterior. You can round up your sightseeing with a stroll along the Corniche Area. You will be treated to amazing views of the city from here as well as tasty refreshments from the eateries there.
The city also has a number of museums which will be of interest to not only history enthusiasts. Here they will get to learn more about Omani history. Some of the museums worth paying a visit to are the Bait az-Zubair Museum, the Children’s Museum and the Natural History Museum.
There are plenty of outdoor activities available to those on holiday to Muscat. If the word vertigo doesn’t exist in your dictionary, you can take on the mountains in the vicinity of this city. And if rock climbing is not your cup of tea, you could simply hike. Nature lovers will want to engage in dolphin and turtle watching.
Shoppers will be spoilt for choice regarding jewellery and handicraft outlets. A little something for everyone is what Muscat promises.

Jordan Holidays
A trip to Jordan is simply an experience that is difficult to put into words. This enigmatic, almost landlocked country dominated by vast deserts is choke-full of attractions that transport tourists beyond the walls of time. The pick of the litter is obviously the astounding rock city of Petra, a locale that not only listed in many a traveller’s bucket lists but also among the new Seven Wonders of the World.
Despite more than half of the country being covered by the Arab Desert, the country is also part of the Fertile Crescent and has tracts of arable land. There are also Mediterranean forests to the west of Jordan. Oases can be found in the desert as well around which towns have sprung up. The port of Aqaba, Jordan’s only connection to the Red Sea is another one of the country’s unique features.
Jordan holidays – Sightseeing and activities
Viewing the picturesque ruins of Petra is what brings most visitors to this Middle Eastern kingdom. Seeing the imposing structures and their pillars carved out of the sandstone cliffs is breathtaking. Equally mind-boggling is the fact that these structures date back to the 6th century BC.
The only way of accessing this site is on camel, horse or donkey-back, or walking which adds another exciting twist to this experience. There are multilingual guides available to take you through this vast site and put things into perspective with plenty of information. Hiking about the site you will come to the Mountain of Aaron (brother to the biblical Moses) which is the highest point in this region.
On your way down you will pass by the Monastery which is among Petra’s most photogenic sites. To further efforts to preserve this magnificent piece of history UNESCO listed Petra as one of its World Heritage sites in 1985.
Going to the Dead Sea is also a unique experience as on the waters of this extremely saline water body, you will be able to float. In visiting this place you will be at the lowest point on earth at about 400m below sea level.
The waters of this sea are also said to have therapeutic qualities, being able to cure a number of skin ailments. Many visitors will cover themselves in the clayish mud around the sea for this reason. Besides these waters there are those of natural hot springs close by which serve a spa resort in the area.
The port city of Aqaba is worth a visit if only to go around the Aqaba fort and tour the 4th century church. If you’re into water sports you can go snorkelling or scuba diving in the Red Sea and even if you’re new to this kind of sport, there are institutions you can go for lessons.
Tourists on holiday to Jordan will find that the area is replete with eateries serving delicious Arab specialities as well as restaurants that do cuisine from all around the world. While in Jordan you can eat Italian and Lebanese delicacies and also indulge in the familiar fast food offered by McDonald and Burger King.

Ecuador Holidays
Found in the Northwest of South America, Ecuador is home to the world’s highest volcano, Cotopaxi and numerous sites in the country have been listed as UNESCO World Heritages, like Cuenca and the Galapagos Islands. Consider Ecuador Holidays for unforgettable time of life.
For travelers looking for the ultimate in cultural experiences, Ecuador will not be a disappointment. Both the Quito and Cuenca are World Heritage Sites filled to the brim with 17th century churches, beautiful plazas, and carefully restored mansions of era’s gone and picturesque monasteries. The architectural treasures that adorn the cobblestone streets transport you to the colonial days of the Spanish and the museums will have you time warped straight back to pre-Columbian days.
The scenery in the country is unsurpassed as the landscape flows in all its glory and highlights the Andean villages festooned with vivacious markets and vibrant textiles.
In the Amazon, not only can the most spectacular sunsets be captured, but shamans continue to harvest the rainforest medicines their ancestors used.
For the adventurous visitors, taking a trek into the Andes is demanding but it has been likened to a fairy tale as you will come across small villages, luscious fields and babbling brooks. As the mist clears, the view of the snow-covered peaks are sure to get adrenalin surging and the motivation to summit the 5000m high volcano will beckon.
For the not so daring, you can take in the lush landscape without having to climb it. In fact, they make a great backdrop for bike rides, horseback tours and even smaller hikes between villages.
Ecuador further offers amazing surfing off the Pacific Coast and extreme rafting along its rivers and jungle-clad banks.
The infamous and remote Galapagos Islands comprise 13 main islands and 6 smaller isles and are renowned for the unique wildlife inhabitants. It is here that travelers can get really close to massive tortoises and the world’s only marine iguanas. The most amazing birdlife and sea life can be enjoyed and the highest mountain of the islands, the Volcan Wolf, towering at 1707 meters can be taken in.
The Amazon rainforest is also a popular attraction for wildlife lovers. It is here that you can cruise the rivers and walk the trails in search of toucans, river dolphins, monkeys and anacondas alike.
Some of the lodges in the rainforest offer great views from canopy towers where you can spot more than 350 kinds of birds.
The colonial town of Quito is a great way to experience Ecuadorian culture. The town spreads across the Andean Valley, fringed with volcanic peaks. The old town is somewhat historic, filled with museums, churches and historic theaters. The narrow streets provide an insight into the lives of the inhabitants and visitors will enjoy many a musician, ice cream sellers and quaint shops selling anything possible.
The culture is that of shouting vendors whilst aromas of local fare like peanuts and roasting pigs linger in the air. Just a short walk from Quito will find you in the newer side of town where multistory hotels abound. This is the trendier side with cafes, bars and international restaurants but an element of Ecuadorian flare has been retained.
Ecuador tends to have two seasons, dry and wet.
The best time to visit the highlands is during the dry season, June-September and December. The central valley has an air of spring year-round but canoe travelling is best done during the wet season as streams are at their maximum.
Trekking is best left for the dry season, September-December. January-May, although wet, is the best time to visit the beaches with many a sunny day. June-August are the most popular times for tourists as the islands are scorching but wet, making it the best time to spot exotic creatures in the rainforests, tour the Galapagos Islands and laze on the beaches.
Our Ecuador Holidays will definitely etch themselves on your memory.

Chile Holidays
It might be skinny looking, but Chile stretches for 4300km from the world’s most arid desert to the gigantic fields of glaciers. In between that you will find the most amazing beaches, volcanoes, rivers, lakes and islands. The only problem you may encounter is deciding which of the many sights you will be able to fit into an itinerary on your holiday. Consider Chile holidays for unforgettable time of life.
Set between the Pacific Ocean and Andes peaks, Chile is not just about its breath taking backdrops; it has loads of flair and character to offer. The bustling multiethnic capital, Santiago, is overlooked by the mountains and is home to exquisite properties and the stunning gardens boast a variety of bars, galleries, shops and restaurants. Travel south of the city to Maipo Valley and you can enjoy some of the finest wines in the world.
In southern Patagonia lies the country’s most famous national park, Torres del Paine which has been named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The park’s mountain range makes for supreme scenery. Also in the area is the Chilean Lake District that boasts the bluest lakes and rivers.
In contrast, the north of the country houses supposedly the world’s driest desert, Atacama Desert which boasts salt lakes, boiling geysers and unbelievable landscapes. The enigmatic stone figures of Chile’s Easter Island, lying in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, make for an all-round awe-inspiring holiday experience.
Easter Island has been described as one of the Earth’s most isolated locations and it remains a mystery to people. Many tourists like to take a bike ride around the island and doing so is very easy. Only one airline flies to the island from either Santiago or Peru.
A trip would not be completed without savoring the well-loved foods and wines and spending some time mingling with the vibrant inhabitants. The city offers energetic nightlife and a not to be missed market right in its center.
A 2 hour drive out of the city will get you to Alfonso Del Mar Resort, Algarrobo the location of the world’s largest pool.On your travels, be sure to take in the unique wildlife like guanacos and armadillos.
Between Puerto Montt and Puerto Natales lie the glacier-studded fjords and lakes of the country. The best way to take in such scenery is to take a cruise along the west coast. This is also an opportunity to spot the array of water wildlife such as penguins and sea lions. The bird watching is unsurpassed.
Patagonia is not to be missed. The snow-capped mountains are found where the Andes majestically hang over the border of Argentina and Chile. Just 1 hour from each other on Chile’s coast, you will find the cities of Vine Del Mar and Valparaiso.
The latter is a somewhat arty town with streets lined with amazing artwork and portraits and the Pablo Neruda museum is an absolute must see. Vine Del Mar is where you will find the flower clock and a beautiful beach.
The best time to visit the bustling metropolis is between October – April as the weather is fairly moderate then. The northern Atacama region tends to have a constant climate but will be bit hotter in the summer months which run from December – March.
This is a great time to visit the Lake District, as it rains less. The months between November – March are the best for visiting Patagonia as it is much colder than any other month with high snowfalls. The official language of the colorful nation is Spanish and there are a few other native tongues spoken. The currency is Peso ($).
A holiday to Chile is a great choice. Our Chile Holidays will definitely etch themselves on your memory.

The country proudly boasts over 50 years without a military and a century of democratic tradition. The sheer peace of the country makes it a delight to visit.
The national transport symbol of Costa Rica is the oxcart and it has become an expression of art. This can also be said for the yoke – a wooden type of tool that is placed over the necks of oxen, allowing them to be harnessed together to pull a cart. It is in Costa Rica that visitors will find the world’s largest yoke and oxcart. Ancestors in the South Pacific left their legacy in the form of elaborate stone spheres whose meaning has always been a mystery. To date there are 235 spheres throughout the country, equally perfect and measuring between 2 meters and 20 centimeters. They are said to be more than 1 000 years old.
Costa Rica is rich in culture, adventure, landscape and art and will not disappoint its tourists.

Peru
Lying to the west of South America, Peru offers a little bit of something for every visitor. If you’d like to trek the great Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or journey deep into the mystical Amazon or even fly over the infamous Nazca Lines, Peru truly has it all.
Peru borders Brazil in the east, Chile in the South and Ecuador and Colombia to the north.
In contrast to other equatorial countries, Peru does not particularly have a tropical climate but rather the Andes and Humboldt Current influence a rather erratic climate.
One part of the country experiences moderate temperatures with little rain and great humidity whereas the northern regions are wetter and somewhat warmer. The south is subject to harsh, cold winters and seasonal rainfall.
The culture of the colorful country essentially stems from Spain but there are many other influences too. Many Peruvians are still incredibly proud of their roots and you will find them extremely warm and welcoming. The Peruvian arts include incredible pottery, sculpture and jewelry and of course one of their greatest achievements is Machu Picchu. The delectable cuisine is a companionable mix of Spanish and Amerindian with influences from Italy, Africa, China and Arabic fares.
Whether you are an adrenalin addict, beach lounger, nature lover or cultural fundi, Peru has it all. The country promises one of the most exciting and scenic adventure holidays travelers will experience filled with incredible wildlife and a culture steeped in ancient roots and traditions.
Once upon a time home to the Incas, the influx of Spaniards attempted to rid the country of Inca traces but to date intact archaeological sites are still being discovered and Machu Picchu, undoubtedly the jewel of Peru, was only discovered in the last century. A journey to a land of sunshine and history will greatly reward visitors with incredible trekking trails, natural wonders and magical ruins and of course the enigmatic rainforest. Not to be missed are the delightful floating islands.
Adventurists will revel in tackling the Inca Trail. It may be incredibly demanding, but the accomplishment along with the magic of the ruins, beauty of the mountains and pure exoticness of the cloud forests make the trek well worthwhile. You’ll work your way along to the magnificent Machu Picchu. Once you reach the spectacular vista you can completely soak up the joy of a city that was hidden for hundreds of years in the Andean mountains. You really have to feel the scared atmosphere and will be hard-pressed to describe such a majestic place.
A great way to experience Peru is to go island hopping on Lake Titicaca. The clear blue waters, man-made floating islands and indigenous inhabitants greet you with the Peruvian warmth of centuries gone.
If you’re keener on archaeology and history, then fly over the Nazca Lines and try to solve the mystery of the massive paintings of animals, shapes and symbols that have been etched into the desert. The Lines span an amazing 500 sq km and are only visible from the sky and have baffled theorists for centuries. Still, nobody knows what the drawings were made for.
A trip to Peru is incomplete without a visit to Amazon Rainforest and the Andes. The rainforest is engulfed by massive towering trees and dense undergrowth and the incredible flora, mystical animal sounds and unbelievable wildlife make this possibly one of the best visits on the globe.
The Andes cater for numerous adventure treks, like the Moonstone Trek or little known Inca Trail to Choquequirao.
Peru truly offers a holiday to remember, with its cultural heritage, natural wonders and stunning beaches you can be sure to experience the trip of a lifetime.

I thought we'd just let you know what a wonderful time we all had aboard the Adventure of the Seas, and thank you for your part in the arrangements, we enjoyed every minute, no doubt probably our best cruise to date. Also I would say that disparaging remarks or criticism were totally unfounded, we gave all the staff, food, cabins, entertainment, weather and the ports of call, 10 out of 10, its a great ship, managed by a fine Master and very dedicated crew. We may have to give next year a miss to build up the bank balance, but we will come back to you for your expertise, as our Cruise Connoisseur.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for organising our trip to Verona last weekend. This was a very emotive trip for my wife & I, as it was our first trip to Italy since my wife's cancer diagnosis 2 years ago. Italy is without a doubt our favourite place on the planet and we were not sure if she would see it again. Thanks to you, she has regained, what I call her Italian smile, it came across her face the minute we touched down. Money cannot pay for that smile! The hotel at Gatwick was literally a 2 minute bus ride from the airport, front row seats on the flight over and chauffeur driven limo to meet us at the airport was an amazing start to the weekend. When you said we were staying in a 3 star hotel, I was, if I'm honest, a little nervous, generally speaking, 3 star hotels in Italy means you are sleeping in a cow shed. Not at the Hotel Milano, what an amazing hotel, slap bang in the centre of Verona, with views of the arena, excellent breakfast, towels changed twice daily, good size bedrooms and very comfortable beds! The air con worked superbly, which was just as well with temperatures in the 30's every day. Thank you for making this trip memorable for both of us.

A really big thank you for the wonderful bouquet of roses which arrived in our cabin. I was really touched by such a kind thought, they were beautiful and very much appreciated.

There aren't many people I can say this to, but you've totally impressed my mother-in-law. Seriously, thank you for all you hard work in arranging the cruise on board Serenade of the Seas for my in-laws and four other guests. Not only were your clients located in in three corners of the UK, but you had to deal with very late booking alterations, various medical requirements, special dietary requirements and not to mention 6 very experienced cruisers. All arrangements were completed by you with professional calm and flourish and, due to your personal intervention and attention to detail, everything was perfect from beginning to end. The whole party, who have much cruising experience between them, were totally impressed and will undoubtedly be booking with you again.

The President Protea was a perfect start for us - good swimming pool & very adequate 3 star. Lots to tell you about one day. Terrible drought there, but we just squeezed in before they tightened up. Just back from a fantastic holiday. Everything went really well with your arrangements. The Centurion Palace was great and I would strongly recommend it. It is a great location, very comfortable & very attentive staff. Venice was a trifle hot but lovely all the same and now competing for our favourite Italian city. All went well with the ship, again thank you for picking it for us; a perfect choice. Staff were great, cabin very comfortable and what was so nice is that there was no forced seating. We could eat in a choice of restaurants and there was always a table for two if we wanted it. The food choices were outstanding. The itinerary was very interesting particularly Kotor in Montenegro. We easily got a train into Florence and were bold over by Barcelona. A big thank you from us both for organising this trip, and believe it or not, we both came back a few pounds lighter!

I was impressed by how he communicated at every step of the way & acted with pace. This created trust very quickly. 2. Daniel always left a next move. This is a very skilful approach to sales. Not long back from our 3rd holiday of the year all booked by Jackie, Jackie is excellent at finding great hotels at fantastic prices. firstly we booked a holiday in Mexico at the Occidental Grand Excaret on the Riviera Maya. For the May bank holiday weekend we asked Jackie if she could find us something in the UK with a hot tub for a relaxing break, Jackie quickly replied with a few options and we ended up booking Conifer Lodges at Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway. The price through Jackie was cheaper than what we could of booked it ourselves. Lastly we have not been long back from Kardemeana in Kos, this one proved a bit more difficult to find as we'd been spoilt in Mexico, Jackie spent a lot of time finding us exactly what we asked for and yet again managed to find us a fantastic hotel at a brilliant price. I look forward to booking next years holiday's with Jackie as I know she'll exceed our expectations for what we want.

I have just come back from a fantastic week in Kos which Jackie booked at very short notice for my daughter and myself. I was a little nervous about travelling alone with my 7 year old for the first time as my husband was working and, to compound matters, I had an injured shoulder. Jackie arranged everything to make the holiday as easy for me as possible. The hotel was lovely and just what we wanted - we had a great break. Before contacting Jackie I had already wasted almost a full day trawling the internet and tying myself up in knots. Jackie did all the research, gave me loads of suggestions and had the whole holiday booked and organised in just a few hours. All I had to do was pack and turn up for the flight. Next time I'm not going to even think about searching online - I'll get straight in touch with Jackie and ask her to sort it out for me! Thanks Jackie! xx
