Le Home Studios – Corsica

Le Home has been a favourite with British holidaymakers for many years, providing a great value for money option for couples in particular. The English speaking owners, Marie-Laure and Christophe, are always on hand to help and it is clear to see how passionate they are about their properties and gardens. With skilfully landscaped grounds as well as an abundance of flowers, plants and trees, evidently much care and attention has been put into the properties making them a real little oasis in the middle of town.

The apartments provide a real home-from-home; each is comfortably furnished and individually styled with some lovely touches and a great deal of care. They all have air-conditioning as well as views over the gardens towards one of the swimming pools from a balcony or terrace – the perfect retreat for the inevitable Corsican apéritif or one of those long lunches. The kitchenettes are functionally equipped with a hob and microwave, however, there are numerous bars, restaurants and shops within a 10-minute walk. For an evening out, try the Quai Landry, the promenade overlooking Calvi marina, which is a fantastic location for a relaxing drink, watching the sun set and enjoying a spot of people watching.

Discover Morocco

I found Morocco to be fascinating and wish we would have been able to see more. Fes, Agadir and the Atlas mountains were, unfortunately, missed, but our two weeks was well spent in other locations. I don’t like just to pass through a place without getting the local feel so we started off with 4 nights in Marrakech and, really, could have stayed longer as the heat made it difficult to do anything in the afternoon. Mornings were spent wandering the maze of streets and exploring the souks and Djemaa El-Fna in the evenings were perfect for the spectacle of Africa’s largest square.

I think my favourite part of Marrakech was the food and, in particular, the tajines. These Moroccan wonders seem to pop up everywhere and I had no apprehension concerning eating ‘street food’. The souks are amazing places to stock up on all the spices required to make these tajines at home but be careful of the street hawkers who have a ‘cousin’ or ‘brother’ that will give you a good deal. Afternoon snacks are abundant from the many fruit carts in the square and dinner can be had from any one of the dozens of stalls that seem to pop up out of nowhere. Djemaa El Fna truly has to be experienced to be appreciated.

On the road

We went to Morocco without a firm plan but knowing the basics of where we would like to go. Errachidia and Fes were on the list but we realised that these would need to wait for another trip as the coast was a higher priority. Thus, we opted for a coach instead of a train and set off for Casablanca. This port city was both amazing and disappointing at the same time. The art deco buildings and 1930’s influence is worth seeing and the Hassan II mosque is a must. On the other hand, Casablanca seemed to have a seedy side that may be the reason the very name conjures images of bandits and badly lit streets…worth a visit, though.

On the road again

We decided that our next stop would be Oulidia and we enjoyed two nights in a shabby motel ( the budget was an issue), relaxed on the beach and, once again, enjoyed some foodie delights. There was a tiny coffee and sandwich shop that made tuna paninis with freshly caught fish, and we had an amazing seafood dinner in one of the waterfront restaurants. A Moroccan man approached us on the beach and very politely enquired if we’d like to but some cinnamon coffee. My thoughts don’t usually turn to hot drinks when the temperature is hovering around 40 degrees but we thought we’d have a go…it was amazing. There’s not much to do in Oulidia as it’s mainly a fishing village and seems to be a getaway spot for Moroccans. There are no attractions other than the beach, and the water is cold but if you want to get away and relax, this is the place.

Essaouira

Getting to Essaouira from Oulidia was an issue as the buses only run a couple of times a week and not at great times. We struck a deal with a taxi driver and made our may down a mostly, gravel track through desolate towns and bleak terrain that was very interesting. How people manage to make a living when there is nothing but sand and rock to be seen is something amazing. Essaouira was our favourite of the trip and we found a hotel with self-catering apartments in the middle of town.

A trip to the market was in order and we purchased some fresh lamb and veg and had a go at a tajine (we didn’t have a tajine so we used, and I still do now, an old pot with a lid) and, while I’m better at them now, this one was great. Essaouira has some beautiful beaches and lovely Moroccan architecture but one of the biggest attractions is the fishermen and the fish and I found that I could spend hours there just watching the world go by.

Anassa Hotel

I first visited the Anassa Hotel four years ago & have since been back. It’s a stunning property in a secluded, peaceful location perfect for recharging those batteries!

Service is impeccable yet discreet. The food although pricey was excellent. I can highly recommend dinner at the signature restaurant Basiliko, it is set in a stone cavern & of an evening is lit by candles which creates a lovely ambiance. The resort feels like a village & even has it’s own town square.

Hire a car or jump in a taxi to nearby Latchi – only 5 minutes away. In Latchi there are a handful of shops along with restaurants that line the small quay.

The beach here is long & mainly fine shingle. We hired a boat for the day from Latchi harbour & headed out to the peninsula.

As well as early booking discounts, we also have some family offers.

Sultan Gardens Sharm El Sheikh

I stayed recently at the Sultan Gardens Resort located in the Shark’s Bay area of Sharm El Sheikh.  The property is on one of Sharm’s best coral beaches and sits across the water from Tiran island.  The Sultan Gardens resort is about 6 km from Sharm el Sheikh International Airport and about 7 km from the bustling Bazaars and nightlife of Naama Bay.  The hotel offers free airport transfers for its guests.

I always describe the property as a good 4* – if expectations are managed, even the most discerning clients will find little to fault here.  The service and management who are very ‘hands on’ however are definitely 6* and they are the reason that the Sultan Gardens has such a high amount of repeat clients.  That along with good prices for All Inclusive in rooms that range from standard size to family rooms with 2 bedrooms and even villas.

A beautiful beach and excellent snorkeling mean that everyone can enjoy the sea life.  I took two young children and thanks to the walkways over the reefs, they did not need to put their heads under water but still managed to spot lion fish, puffa fish and rays among 100s of other species.  For the more serious snorkelling and diving, the hotel has it’s own dive school and floating jettys to take you straight into the depths.

The hustle and bustle of Naama Bay is just a short trip away.  The shopping is varied but not for the faint hearted – do try haggling for your purchases!  Alternatively take a trip in to Soho Square which has a choice of bars, resturants, coloured fountains and even an ice skating rink.

There are some great trips from the Sultan gardens which provide the opprtunity to meet Bedouins in their camps, ride camels, try locally prepared food (and even help make it) and the most amazing star gazing I’ve been lucy enough to experience.

Sultan Gardens is also right next door to an 18 hole Golf Course and across the street from the Sharm El Sheikh Botanical Gardens.

You may also like to take a walk down the path which leads to the St Michaels Cave. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Gibraltar.

If you love wildlife you’ll enjoy the Ape’s Den. This is one of the more unique attractions you’ll find on Gibraltar holidays. The Barbary Apes are roam around the area are known to be the only free-roaming primates within Europe. While they can be cute and fun to watch, these primates are very mischievous so you’ll need to keep that in mind.

If you’d like to take in a little culture then the Gibraltar Museum is a must see. It is located right in the middle of the city and it’s not far away from Main Street and the Roman Catholic Cathedral. So you could take in a little culture and then spend the rest of the day shopping.

The taxis all turned up on time which was amazing. We also thought the hotel in Barcelona was excellent, so thank you again Tim. You really are a star.

I thought we'd just let you know what a wonderful time we all had aboard the Adventure of the Seas, and thank you for your part in the arrangements, we enjoyed every minute, no doubt probably our best cruise to date. Also I would say that disparaging remarks or criticism were totally unfounded, we gave all the staff, food, cabins, entertainment, weather and the ports of call, 10 out of 10, its a great ship, managed by a fine Master and very dedicated crew. We may have to give next year a miss to build up the bank balance, but we will come back to you for your expertise, as our Cruise Connoisseur.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for organising our trip to Verona last weekend. This was a very emotive trip for my wife & I, as it was our first trip to Italy since my wife's cancer diagnosis 2 years ago. Italy is without a doubt our favourite place on the planet and we were not sure if she would see it again. Thanks to you, she has regained, what I call her Italian smile, it came across her face the minute we touched down. Money cannot pay for that smile! The hotel at Gatwick was literally a 2 minute bus ride from the airport, front row seats on the flight over and chauffeur driven limo to meet us at the airport was an amazing start to the weekend. When you said we were staying in a 3 star hotel, I was, if I'm honest, a little nervous, generally speaking, 3 star hotels in Italy means you are sleeping in a cow shed. Not at the Hotel Milano, what an amazing hotel, slap bang in the centre of Verona, with views of the arena, excellent breakfast, towels changed twice daily, good size bedrooms and very comfortable beds! The air con worked superbly, which was just as well with temperatures in the 30's every day. Thank you for making this trip memorable for both of us.

First of all thank you for helping our son & daughter to organise such a great surprise trip for us. The only cruise I've wanted to do and it certainly came up to expectations. It really was fantastic and made a wonderful golden wedding present with all the immediate family with us - a rare occasion! A really big thank you for the wonderful bouquet of roses which arrived in our cabin. I was really touched by such a kind thought, they were beautiful and very much appreciated.

There aren't many people I can say this to, but you've totally impressed my mother-in-law. Seriously, thank you for all you hard work in arranging the cruise on board Serenade of the Seas for my in-laws and four other guests. Not only were your clients located in in three corners of the UK, but you had to deal with very late booking alterations, various medical requirements, special dietary requirements and not to mention 6 very experienced cruisers. All arrangements were completed by you with professional calm and flourish and, due to your personal intervention and attention to detail, everything was perfect from beginning to end. The whole party, who have much cruising experience between them, were totally impressed and will undoubtedly be booking with you again.

If we had done Shamwari early on as our companions on the drives were doing then the impact / climax would just not have been the same. The President Protea was a perfect start for us - good swimming pool & very adequate 3 star. Lots to tell you about one day. Terrible drought there, but we just squeezed in before they tightened up. Just back from a fantastic holiday. Everything went really well with your arrangements. The Centurion Palace was great and I would strongly recommend it. It is a great location, very comfortable & very attentive staff. Venice was a trifle hot but lovely all the same and now competing for our favourite Italian city. All went well with the ship, again thank you for picking it for us; a perfect choice. Staff were great, cabin very comfortable and what was so nice is that there was no forced seating. We could eat in a choice of restaurants and there was always a table for two if we wanted it. The food choices were outstanding. The itinerary was very interesting particularly Kotor in Montenegro. We easily got a train into Florence and were bold over by Barcelona. A big thank you from us both for organising this trip, and believe it or not, we both came back a few pounds lighter!

Not long back from our 3rd holiday of the year all booked by Jackie, Jackie is excellent at finding great hotels at fantastic prices. firstly we booked a holiday in Mexico at the Occidental Grand Excaret on the Riviera Maya. For the May bank holiday weekend we asked Jackie if she could find us something in the UK with a hot tub for a relaxing break, Jackie quickly replied with a few options and we ended up booking Conifer Lodges at Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway. The price through Jackie was cheaper than what we could of booked it ourselves. Lastly we have not been long back from Kardemeana in Kos, this one proved a bit more difficult to find as we'd been spoilt in Mexico, Jackie spent a lot of time finding us exactly what we asked for and yet again managed to find us a fantastic hotel at a brilliant price. I look forward to booking next years holiday's with Jackie as I know she'll exceed our expectations for what we want.

I have just come back from a fantastic week in Kos which Jackie booked at very short notice for my daughter and myself. I was a little nervous about travelling alone with my 7 year old for the first time as my husband was working and, to compound matters, I had an injured shoulder. Jackie arranged everything to make the holiday as easy for me as possible. The hotel was lovely and just what we wanted - we had a great break. Before contacting Jackie I had already wasted almost a full day trawling the internet and tying myself up in knots. Jackie did all the research, gave me loads of suggestions and had the whole holiday booked and organised in just a few hours. All I had to do was pack and turn up for the flight. Next time I'm not going to even think about searching online - I'll get straight in touch with Jackie and ask her to sort it out for me! Thanks Jackie! xx
