Fernie is a town in British Columbia in Canada.  It is home to the Fernie ski resort on the Lizard Range in the Canadian Rockies.  Fernie has the highest yearly snowfall of all the resorts in the Canadian Rockies and has an altitude of 1 082 metres.

Skiing in Fernie

The Fernie Alpine Resort is a skiers’ dream and has 140 official skiing runs and 5 Alpine bowls.  These are serviced by 10 lifts.  The total skiable terrain is 2 500 acres.

The five Alpine bowls are the Cedar, Currie, Lizard, Timber and Siberia Bowls.  The amazing powder of Fernie creates a feeling of lightness, grace and ease and gives the ultimate skiing experience. This makes Fernie one of the best ski resorts in Canada.

Back country skiing in Fernie is an adventure of a lifetime.  Tour groups link up with private land owners and corporations to provide skiing tracks on rugged terrain.  This can be very dangerous and should only be done with correct training and guidance.

Accommodation

When seeking accommodation in Fernie, you have two basic options of location.  One is accommodation in the ski resort and the second is accommodation in the town of Fernie.

In the resort you will find mainly lodges.  Lodges range from luxurious to more basic and economic.

There are also many ski in and ski out condos in the resort to choose.  The town is located close to the resort and there are shuttles and busses travelling between them.  This means that regardless where you decide on staying, access to and from both locations are easy and reliable.

Should you decide to stay in town, you will have more options available.  The town offers hotels, apartments, rental houses and guest houses.  Staying in town also gives more access to shops and other attractions such as the clubs, bars and attractions such as the museum.

Conclusion
